Rahr Brewery PhotoThe story of Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. really starts when Fritz Rahr graduated from Texas Christian University. Fortunately for beer lovers in North Texas, Fritz not only fell in love with Fort Worth, but also fell in love with his future wife here. And in another fortuitous twist for all of us, Fritz’s wife, Erin, gave him the thumbs up when he announced that he would like to carry on the Rahr family tradition of brewing.

Fritz and Erin founded Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. in the fall of 2004. In five years, the brewery has more than doubled its brewing capacity - from 2,000 barrels per year to over 5,000 barrels per year and has won fifteen nationally-recognized awards, including a Bronze Medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup for Bucking Bock and 2009 National Grand Champion from the United States Beer Tasting Championships for Iron Thistle.

The Rahr family looks forward to more growth and even more awards for the brewery, but Fritz and Erin are most excited about continuing to brew great tasting beers that can be found throughout Texas and continuing to serve these great beers directly to you at a Wednesday or Saturday Tour & Tasting! Someday their sons will be brewing and serving up some of these award-winning, great tasting beers too...as long as you keep drinking them.

Beer Memories (6)

Describe your fondest Rahr & Sons Brewing beer story.

When I first tried Iron Thistle cask aged, I was just about blown away! IT may be the best beer I've ever had, and its locally brewed right here in Funkytown, Cowtown, or Fort Worth. Thanks Fritz!

Super excited about the brewery reopening. Can't wait!

The first time I tried a Winter Warmer it was love at first sip. Fritz I know you have heard enough from me but I have to say it one more time BREW MORE WINTER WARMER.

I spent some time at the brewery last week visiting with Fritz and Erin and Jamie. What a great brewery and so passionate about what they do. I enjoyed the Ugly Pug, a smooth black lager, one of the smoothest I have ever tried. Thanks everyone!

We discovered the brewery through one of my wife's graduate professors. We fell in love with the place right away. The beers were amazing and the atmosphere was funfilled. After the roof collapsed this last winter, we attended several of the "Tastings on the Road" events. These are always a blast! Fritz and crew are easily approachable and they sometimes surprise us with a "special" brew or two, i.e. "Pecker Wrecker"! We highly anticipate the brewery reopening for the Wednesday and Saturday Tour and Tastings. We'll see ya'll there, Chuck and Sara

I enjoyed a Wednesday berwery tour in Fort Worth. The beer was great, the people who attended were jovial and interesting. However for whatever reason, on that particular Wednesday evening they did not give a tour. But, now I have a reason to visit again! Thanks for making great quality brews Fritz!!

Miscellaneous (1)

Anything else goes here, just keep it positive OK.

Rahr & Sons Brewery is very generous in providing fundraising opportunities for many local animal rescue organizations, and yes, even some non-animal charities (those Girl Scout cookies go great with an Ugly Pug!).
We all thank Fritz and Erin for their generosity ...and so do our fur-friends.
