Larry Lunardi is a founder of the site. Read About Us.
BreweryFans.com connects craft beer fans with the breweries they love. We enable fans to find the beer they want from our ever growing database of distributor data, join content rich fan pages, receive email alerts on new distribution, and get messages from breweries on events and beer festivals. A brewery can review what beers their fans have tried, determine where best to distribute next, and read their fans stories. Tell your friends and your favorite breweries to join the BreweryFans.com revolution!

Beer and Health Part 2:
Hops May Lower Cholesterol

According to research, hops are a great source of polyphenols, which boost your immune system and may lower bad cholesterol. In 2007 a group of Spanish non-drinking nuns in Madrid were given half a liter of beer a day for 45 days.

The result was a six percent reduction in total cholesterol among those women with high levels.
The study also showed that the beer did not need to contain alcohol, but that hops were the “magic” ingredient.

These studies were carried out by a beer association, but its findings have previously and subsequently been backed by unaffiliated experts who have found through research that polyphenols do in fact prevent the oxidation of LDL and HDL.

I think I’ll have an IPA!

Worlds Strongest Beer Stirs up Controversy

BrewDog is at it again; famous for their already outrageously strong 32% “Tactical Nuclear Penguin” and 41% “Sink the Bismarck!”, their newest brew, “The end of History”, lands them the new world record at 55% alcohol.

But if you can overlook the 55%, you can’t miss the packaging. All of the 12 bottles released have been placed in taxidermy squirrels and stoats. Most people consider the bottles offensive, others amusing.

At about $780.00 most of us won’t have to worry about dealing with the moral issues associated with purchasing a beer decorated with once live animals

Cheers!

Craft Beer is Better!
Part 1:Bone Health

New studies indicate that craft beers are rich in dietary silicon, a key contributor to bone mineral density.

Researchers from the University of California, Davis’ food science and technology department found that out of 100 beers tested, silicon content ranged from 6.4 to 56.5 mg per liter. That’s about 2.3 to 20.5 mg per 12oz serving.

Mass produced light beers had the lowest amount of silicon, whereas microbrews were mostly on the upper end of this spectrum.

Silicon is derived from the husks of barley and, to a smaller extent, from hops.

Most microbrews are 100% barley and hops, while their big beer counterparts are made up primarily of corn, rice, and hop extract, giving them their poor nutritive qualities.

Next time you have a glass of your favorite microbrew, drink to better bone health. Cheers!

OLCC makes life tough for home brewing

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) has recently re-interpreted an old law which is now discouraging homebrew culture in Oregon. This new interpretation outlaws the removal of homebrewed products from the home in which they are brewed. Now home brewers cannot share their favorite creations with friends, and outlaws home brew competitions such as the Oregon State Fair competition which has been held annually for over 20 years.

News Flash:

A lot of people want content to change on this front page. So here is an update for you to read and I will try and change this at least once a week. We have just entered into partnerships with Choc Beer out of Oklahoma and Lazy Magnolia out of Mississippi. We are developing a mobile version of BreweryFans that will work on any device. Finally, if you are a brewery or know someone at a brewery who will be at the Craft Brewers Conference in Chicago, tell them to stop by our booth and we can explain to them how we can put their fans online and help them sell more beer. Sign up on the Choc and Lazy Magnolia fan page if you are a fan, they have great beers and we are proud to be their partner!

Finding Beers (a must read):

BreweryFans.com is a brand new website. That means we probably do not have all of the beer data you are looking for at the moment unfortunately. Currently, we have about 35,000 beerspot records. In the meantime, you should find your favorite beers and set alerts on them and we will notify you when we have distribution data for those beers in your city! Setting alerts helps us see what brewery data is in high demand, so add a lot!

Finally, you can help us and this community! If you know a beer is available at a specific location, then add a beerspot for it. It is extremely easy and only takes a few seconds. If you want to add multiple beerspots at once, go here to learn how to submit a spreadsheet that we can directly import into our distribution database. It is simple!

How to Use the Site:

BreweryFans.com is integrated with Facebook Connect, so you can log in with your Facebook username and password if you want. We built the site to be very simple to get started and user friendly. Watch Jonathon Lunardi explain more in the video below:

After watching the above video we recommend you follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Register or Log in with your Facebook ID
  • Step 2: Pause, pour a craft beer
  • Step 3: Search for your favorite brewery
  • Step 4: Join that brewery's fan group and review the beers you have tried (only the brewery can read these reviews)
  • Step 5: Drink your craft beer, yummmm....
  • Step 6: Fill out your profile, add a photo, about yourself, etc.
  • Step 7: Search for your favorite beers and set alerts for them
  • Step 8: Invite some friends to your beer buddy list in your network
  • Step 9: Go back to your favorite brewery and add a message to their wall describing your beer memories or give them suggestions
  • Step 10: Contact your favorite breweries and tell them to get their data on BreweryFans.com!
  • Step 11: Drink more good beer

Do You Know a Brewery Owner?

Help us connect with breweries you know so they are aware of the BreweryFans.com services. They can read the brewery info page on how to get started or contact us directly. The site's value to you will increase as more breweries become a part of our partner network. We aim to make a dramatic impact on the craft beer revolution by enabling microbreweries to leverage technology and their loyal fan bases to sell more beer, more often and expand more efficiently and easily.

Distributors, Where is Your Data!

We are good friends with Craig Purser, President of NBWA. We hope to work with hundreds of distributors across the world to empower them to quickly and easily digitize their distribution data and push it to any website, iPhone, Droid phone, and Facebook application.

Digitizing your craft beer distribution data through the BreweryFans.com platform will give you an advantage over other distributors and will show your passion for the craft beer segment. It is very simple and completely free to send us your data. Go here to learn more how you can work with us.

Are You Still Reading?!

Wow, you must be exhausted, I know I am after writing this. It is only 11:30am, but that means it is 5:30pm somewhere, so I am off to go get a beer and some lunch.

In all seriousness, we have spent a ton of time and money building this site for the craft beer industry. The technology behind it is the most state of the art web technology available today. We hope you enjoy the site, find it useful, and encourage others to check it out. If you have ideas or suggestions for us, you will see a button called "Feedback" on the left, click it and add your idea for us to consider as we continue to develop new innovations and useful services for you and the craft breweries you love! Peace out....Jonathon, Gavin, Larry, Ginger, and Brandon.

Gavin Guest, COO and Co-founder of BreweryFans.com, crazy homebrewer as well!
